Sword Hilt

A personal sword which I modified to be more comfortable.

This is a personal sword which I modified to be more comfortable. Before, the leather was peeling and mostly worn, the pommel was very large and stuck into my wrists when swung, and to top it off the guard was welded to the blade itself, giving the sword an awful ring!

Needless to say, the hilt was dismantled and the guard was cut off. After cutting the guard off, it uncovered critical fault; cuts had been made by a previous owner along the guard line. The cuts were welded in an attempt to strengthen the blade, a new guard was forged, new wood pieces for the blade were made and fresh leather was used to wrap the handle. The pommel was cut down and shaped which made it feel much more comfortable and controllable.
